DIRECTOR Ian Tofield is a Complete Insurance man, with long experience in all classes of Insurance Business and Insurance company Administration. He started his direct Insurance career in 1955 in London and first arrived in Africa in 1961, when he spent eight years in Accra before moving on to Kaduna, then Lagos for another eight years. In 1977, he moved over to Reinsurance and set up a new Regional office in Abidjan, from where he covered the whole of West Africa. Six years later, after twenty two years in West Africa, he was recalled to the head office of his company in Munich, from where he gradually extended his operations to include the whole of the African Continent. In 1995, he moved the entire Management of the portfolio to Johannesburg, where he is still resident following his retirement from full-time employment in early 2002. He is far from inactive, however, because, apart from involving himself with his young second family, he undertakes consultancy activities throughout Africa for direct writing Insurance Companies and for a Reinsurance Broker. He is a Chartered Insurer and speaks fluently in English, French and Germany. Africa is his chosen domicile and spiritual home. |
